I cut the heads off of all of the sunflowers, today & put them inside plastic bags marked with the kind of flower it was (tall large yellow, small multi tall magenta, etc). I left the bags loose so that air could, hopefully, circulate & dry them out. Then, I hung them in the garage, to make it more challenging for the mice & squirrels to get at them. By late fall or early spring, I hope to pack up all of the seeds so that the kids can share them with cousins & classmates who can grow gardens full of sunflowers next year, harvest the seeds themselves & share them with their own friends.
