Betty September 22, 2009

Over the weekend a couple people asked what we did when it was nasty and we couldn't go outside. Dick reads and naps. I do silly things like "spin yarn"... This is some wool I bought from a fantastic shop on a farm near Marengo, with about half of it spun onto two handspindles. Very relaxing, once you practice enough to stop cussing... Especially if you can watch some girly movies while you do it!

Today in the mail I received 2 copies of the Family Fun magazine with my jellyfish costume idea published in it. They changed it quite a bit, but I guess that since they bought the idea from me, they can do what they want with it. I think my version was much cuter! And, I stll haven't received the $200 that they are paying me. I guess I'll give them a couple of weeks, then check into it. Still, it's fun to see my idea used - and on two pages!

Marla September 22, 2009

Took Miranda's advice (from my September 10th photo) and got some more lottery tickets. Finally scratched this one today....Yeah, again!

Miranda September 22, 2009

Gianni tried sweet potatoes again today...and liked them!

Maureen September 22, 2009

Annie & I got haircuts today. I haven't had bangs in years & years. They don't really show very much in this photo. I'm not sure how I feel about them, yet.

Today Joe made cookies by the time I took a picture we had eaten almost all of them. I have a sweet tooth right now. I really crave chocolate.

Marla September 21, 2009

Cole got a skateboard deck from Dylan's friend, Tommy. Now we just need to get him wheels for it. Yeah! Boardshop here we come.

Maureen September 21, 2009

The soap at my kitchen sink, which I used about 25 times over the course of making & serving dinner tonight. The puppies were in the kitchen with me... I'd clean up after one, wash my hands, do one thing toward dinner, clean up after another, clean up after what one did while I was cleaning up after the last one, wash my hands, do one more thing toward dinner, etc...

Margie September 21, 2009

Apparently I'm the only person in this house who knows how to work the dishwasher.

Go Bears! This is the group of people that Joe and I normally go to the game with. I didn't get the bus in this picture, but we take a school bus that is decked out in Bears stuff. We have a ton of fun! Thanks for watching Gianni mom! : )

Colleen getting her caricature done at the "Harvest Moon' party. (Sent in by Marla)

Marla September 18, 2009

Colleen and I went to the "Harvest Moon" party tonight. It is a part of the St. Peter's Barn Sale. It was dinner, drinks, music, silent and live auctions, raffles and antiques shopping.

Miranda September 18, 2009

Yummy...ribs for dinner! Sorry mom...

Margie September 18, 2009

Another child care kid - but it was just too funny. He had his shorts on backwards and he was wearing "clap" shoes - tap dance shoes that he found in the dress up clothes. Earlier he also had on a tiara with pink fuzzy fluff on it.

Dylan September 18, 2009

What I did with the past month and a half.

Maureen September 18, 2009

The aftermath from the excitement in town, today. This is the traffic light that the escaped bank robber crashed into while trying to get away from one of our WCPD cars. Way to go, WeGo!

Jen September 17, 2009

Today I got my hair colored and cut for the baby shower and for the babies arrival. I just wanted to be ready I could stand the way it looked.

Maureen September 17, 2009

Someone's been stealing our acorns.

Nikki was contacted by Columbia College and asked to participate in their advertising campaign. Yesterday she had photos taken at the college. She could be showing up in course catalogs, brochures, and on billboards. She was able to state whether she wanted the billboards to be local or elsewhere. She did not want to drive past her huge picture on the way to work, so opted to have them elsewhere. So, keep your eyes open for Nikki's smiling face!

Miranda September 17, 2009

Brendan won his football game today! Go Titans!

Vaughn looking all spiffy after returning from court. If you don't know...he is interning with a lawyer in Geneva. He would like to maybe be a lawyer (when he grows up). When the lawyer is in court and there is nothing in the office for Vaughn to do, he gets to go to the courthouse and observe. Today they had two cases, one ended with a continuance and the other client ended up with their charges being reduced.

Maureen September 16, 2009

Listening to WONC

Jen September 16, 2009

Today I went to the doctor and she said that I need to stay on bed rest and they will try to stop me from having the baby for another 4 weeks then they wont stop anything and let me have the baby. I just have really low blood pressure so she is worried about that. I may need to be put on strict bed rest. Now I have to see the doc every week. Plus James got an adorable hair cut!! Like father like son.

Margie September 16, 2009

Tonight Madi and I finished making these embossed velvet purses that we started about 2 months ago.

Miranda September 16, 2009

We went to a "starting solids" class today...Gianni tried avocado, sweet potatoes and pears! It was fun although he wasn't a big fan of the sweet potatoes!

Tuesday, September 15

Jim September 15, 2009

Jen September 15, 2009

Today James is now walking!!! I just have a video of it. no pictures.

Marla September 15, 2009

I bought a new tire rim for Cole last night. His was bent and a lot of the spokes were broken. So, today I figured out how to move the inner tube and tire to the new one all by myself. It was easy and I saved myself $10 (that's how much the bike store wanted to charge).

Maureen September 15, 2009

I cut the heads off of all of the sunflowers, today & put them inside plastic bags marked with the kind of flower it was (tall large yellow, small multi tall magenta, etc). I left the bags loose so that air could, hopefully, circulate & dry them out. Then, I hung them in the garage, to make it more challenging for the mice & squirrels to get at them. By late fall or early spring, I hope to pack up all of the seeds so that the kids can share them with cousins & classmates who can grow gardens full of sunflowers next year, harvest the seeds themselves & share them with their own friends.

Margie September 15, 2009

First it was the rhubarb from my neighbor. Then it was, and still is zucchini - TONS of zucchini. And now it is apples, bags and bags of apples. Gotta love the guy, but where in the world does he think I have the time for all of this?

Miranda September 15, 2009

I took our cat to the vet today. I just LOVE Dr. Juriga. I highly recommend Valley Animal Hospital!

Donna September 15, 2009

Beware! This is a scam! It was an extra charge on the last page of my recent phone bill. I never heard of this company, nor subscribed to any such thing! Don't even have a fax machine! Why AT&T bills for these frauds, I don't know. After much frustration, and several phone calls, I think I cancelled whatever it is, and am getting a credit. (I hope). Boy, did their telephone person (Jorge) get an earful from me!

Today I got my package from psst and got my free sample from general mills. It was very yummy I almost ate the whole bag. Also I love this picture with James touching my belly the baby was also kicking at the time.

Maureen September 14, 2009

These are growing on our dwarf pear trees. At first, we thought they were weird apple-pears (since the pear trees are right next to some apple trees). Last year, though, we spent some time researching them & discovered that they are quinces. Many dwarf trees are grafted on quince root stock for some reason I can't remember. We must have planted too deep or too shallow, causing the quince to sprout it's own tree. Last year, we made some quince jelly with them. I'm not sure what we'll try this year, yet.

Marla September 14, 2009

A flower that Eric gave me last week.

Miranda September 14, 2009
