Shel & I went for a walk at the West Chicago Prairie, this afternoon. Back in the woods we found a big warm blanket under a tree. We wondered if someone was sleeping out there, or if some teenagers just brought it out with them to stay warm while they were hanging out.

This is the book that Cole just finished reading tonight. It was 726 pages of really small type. We take turns reading with him every school night and I was not enjoying this book so, I am so happy that it is finally done.

We tried nopales (prickly pear cactus pads) with our dinner tonight. We had seen the chefs cook with them on Chopped a couple weeks ago and, then, I saw them in the grocery store today & decided to give it a try. They weren't bad, but I think I'll have to taste them a few more times, maybe prepared in different ways, before I can say that I really like them.

I used to buy the ten ride punch ticket instead of the monthly pass because I worked from home 1 day per week & it worked out to be cheaper that way. That has all changed now that I go downtown everyday. This is my Feb monthly pass. Side note: lucky Metra riders experienced a 30% fare increase starting Feb 1st. :'(

I got Cole a new pair of shoes. They came with 2 different color laces...he wanted one of each. As I was unlacing and relacing the one shoe that needed to be changed I was thinking...When they make shoes is there a machine that laces them or is that someones job to lace shoes all day?

Kline Creek Farm posted on it's Facebook page that they had a bunch of new lambs born yesterday. We went out to see them today & were so excited to bring Tabitha out with us. The kids had a great time teaching her to say 'bawk' and 'baaa' and 'moo'.
