It was given to him - randomally picked. I never gave it much thought until your Mom's post. Then I thought, hmmmm, what a coincidence! He's having a great year, so, not that Mom was a great baseball player, but maybe she is watching over him.
That reminds me of the fall after Amanda died. Farrell was playing soccer for school and AYSO. He had gotten his ayso uniform and threw it in the back of the car without looking at it. When they passed out uniforms at school the coach threw him a shirt. We looked at it, number 5. We imediatly looked at the one in the car, number 55. Amandas number always in all of her years in volleyball was 5.(or had a 5 in it). Since then the number 5 has been given to the boys VERY often.
Another baseball game. They won 5 to 8. I love night games - just wish it was warmer out.
