After reading lots of reviews & interviews all week, I went in with really high expectations for it to be an emotional exploration of the fears & other blinding emotions we all have, but especially as experienced by a 9yo boy as he's realizing that he wants to, but cannot, control those feelings at time.
It didn't quite meet my expectations for all of that, although that was definitely the foundation the story was built on.
I'd like to see it again, though, with only the expectation that it was going to be a sweet imaginative glimpse into a child's mind. Because it was.

Thanks! I still want to see it, but now I'll wait to watch it at home in my jammies with my own snacks...
