A new problem with the pool. What should I do??

Oh man, I wish I had an answer for you. Is that the liner bulging out? I'm really nervous that the whole thing will burst. Is the liner good? Can you just find the pool (the metal part) on clearance somewhere? Take up a collection to replace it. I know everyone will want to help. From the picture, I don't think a patch of the metal will help at this point. Can you call a local pool store and ask for someone to come out for free to have a look and advise? Wish I knew someone to send to look at it. If you could drain it, and pull the liner away, maybe someone who knew how could try to patch a piece of sheet metal onto it. A pool store may even have the sheet metal from a pool installation or take down. I just can't think of how to do it without poking the liner with the bolts to put the patch on. When all else fails for me, I Google it and can usually research an answer. I'll give it a try.

Yikes! I agree with Margie...empty the water and close the pool for the season. Then we'll try to get that piece replaced.

OK - I did google it. I am emailing you some ideas. I think that it can be fixed. Basically drain it down, put a piece of sheet metal over the hole on the inside, refill it. The pressure of the water will hold it in place. See if you can get some sheet metal. There are ideas of where in the email. See if you can get someone (man) to help you. If not, I can come down and do it. In the meantime, I would probably drain it down some to take the pressure off so that it does not tear any more.

Thanks for the ideas. I am in the process of draining it right now. Then I am off of work tomorrow and hope to do something with it then cause it looks like we are having rain the rest of the week starting on Thursday.

I wish that I could come out and help you. But, I really think that it will work if you go to Home Depot and have someone help you find aluminum flashing or something similar. Get a piece about 1 ft. around larger than the hole (or more.) Get a pair of tin snips too. Round the corners of the flashing with the tin snips so you have no sharp corners. Take the top off the wall and pull the liner away. Put the new piece of aluminum in place and duct tape it in place. Put the liner back. Put the top back on the wall. Refill the water. Sounds simple - but I think it may be tough holding the liner back while it still has water in it. But I would sure give it a try before just trashing the pool. Hopefully it will work.

Actually, the metal/aluminum piece would have to be as tall as the wall already there...and then a foot or two wider than the hole on each side.

This sounds like a good plan. The water is almost all out of the pool, it sure does take a long time to drain. It has been draining for 24 hours and still has close to a foot of water in it.
