This is what's left of the tree that I had to cut down so that the sun could hit the solar pool heater that I made. It can't be cut down any further without renting a larger chain saw than the one that we used. So, I'm thinking that I should do something crafty with it: strip the bark and let the kids paint it, learn how to carve a bird or a bear or a dolphin into it, make a cool sundial out of it.....any other ideas?

Well, from what you suggest, it is definitely a totem pole of some sort. The only question is whether you control what is it going to be, or you let it tell you... ;-)
Build some kind of a fort around it? Cut steps into it and use it for the support for a slide?
