Allergies are really bothering me today. I struggled through work and then when I got home my eyes started itching really bad. Eric went to CVS for me and got me some new eye drops and a new box of Claritin.

My neighbors had the fire truck at their house because their fire alarms had been going off. So, my mom and G walked over to see the fire truck!

We explored a new (to us) park in West Chicago, today. It had a nice fishing pond and wading creek. I'm sure we'll be going back there again & again.

Brendan's first track meet! He is doing the hurdles and the high jump. He placed first in his heat in hurdles - He is not a big fan of doing the high jump (he said the coaches picked him to do high jump).

This is the best picture I could take from the nice restaurant we were in, with my stupid camera, but the cropped version was what I was really seeing on tax day... The US flag was flying high, with the California and McDonald's flags flying beneath it.
I'm SURE that this has some deep meaning like, because the US and CA have taken "more than ALL" your money, you should really be eating at McDonald's...

At the Fun Fair silent auction, Annie won a breakfast with one of her favorite teachers (they're really all her favorites, though, I think). She brought this flowering plant with her when she went in early for the breakfast date, today.

As part of our new goal of trying to teach Charlie how to walk nice on a leash (which is getting us out walking, too!), we went to a local forest preserve that we had never been to before. It had a nice walking trail, a slow-moving, muddy river & lots of trees to climb. We'll definitely be going back there again!

It's kind of blurry, but this evening I looked out the window to see Jesse and Lance messing around in the backyard. They used logs to lay out a 3-sided rectangle shape. Then they drove the golf cart toward it, and at the last minute they turned the steering wheel so that the golf cart would slide sideways into the rectangle. As dangerous as it was, I was kind of impressed at how accurate they were.

Saw this over by the little stream in the stand of trees that borders the field between the far parking lot & work today. It's an empty lockbox of some kind and a portfolio - the kind where you might keep important papers. It's probably been buried under the snow & ice all winter. I hate to think of the panic felt by the people who it was probably stolen from, months ago.

I received my 'like new' replacement cell phone today. The zero key on my 3 month old phone stopped working. I did not realize that I would get a refurbished phone under my warranty. Now I have to figure out how to move all my numbers, etc from one phone to the other. I will probably just take them to the Verizon store and have them do it.

Gabby, Charlie and a few of their friends took this tree down for me. It was dumping leaves into the pool and blocking the sun. And, I am planning to make a solar heater for the pool and need a clear southern exposure. I hated to take down a good tree, but it just was not working there and it was too big to move.

Allergies hit me hard today. I got up, went to work and then started feeling bad then worse. After work I rushed to the doctor to get my allergy shots. I hope that relief comes soon.

Stephen came over after school today. He and Shelby played Runescape, an online game, together - Shelby on one computer in our house, Stephen on another. Kids are weird, these days.

Look how happy I am (that's because the finish line is right ahead). Miranda and I ran a 5K in Elburn today. We finished in 33 minutes and 54 seconds.

We took Charlie for a walk at Fabyan today. While there, I met three generations of women visiting from the Lagrange Park area. They had been coming to Fabyan for decades and knew more about it's history than I did, even though I grew up so close to the park.

Remember my picture about the dream and then fortune cookie about gold? Maureen suggested that maybe it would be a bushel of corn. I jokingly told her thanks for squashing my dream. Today I had a fun surprise in the mail from Maureen. She sent me these "gold" tickets. I won $20! And, as much as I could use the money, I think that I will "pay it forward" to a family that today gave Jesse a free half pipe skateboard ramp (that would cost around $600 to make.) So, thanks Maureen!
